Don’t let the fear of failure keep you from playing the game!
A lot of the time when I say to do a certain exercise, I hear back “Oh no I can’t do that!!!” When I ask why, I often get back, “Well I have never done it before!” Or “I tried it once and couldn’t do it so won’t be able to! ” or “I’m crap at it!”
1. TRY EVERYTHING!!! (Unless injured) If you fail? If you can’t lift the 15kg plate for a shoulder press or can’t jump on the box? So what? Literally, so what? Nothing’s gonna happen, nobody’s gonna laugh at you or say anything! Why not just try again the next day, just go jump on the smaller box now, do step ups and try again the next day?! Practice all your shoulder presses on the 10kg for now and then move up! Don’t just quit and completely write it off!! Be consistent, keep pushing yourself and trying!
2. Be Positive – If you tell yourself you’re not gonna be able to squat that new PR, or get to 15 reps, jump on that box, you most likely won’t. If you go in with a positive attitude and say “yeah I can do it!” there is much higher chance of success. mindset is everything!!!!!
3. We all have things we’re not good at or are afraid to do, for example when I started in F1T, I couldn’t do a body weight lunge without falling over but now I’m an expert lunger ๐ took me nearly a year to do a full press up!! My first Kb deadlift we had to ditch the KB and replicate the movement without any weight cos I was too fucked
๐๐ผ To do this day, I still can only do one rep of a single leg deadlift/RDL cos my balance on one leg is shocking! Doesn’t mean I don’t keep trying to do them!
We all are a beginner at some stage! Don’t expect yourself to be able to do the same thing as someone training years or months ahead of you. As Sean said Monday, be patient!!! With continuous effort and training it will all come together!
Each individual is different!
Focus on your own goals and needs!๐
๐ค
Basically what I am trying to say is keep trying and keep practicing. Keep everything consistent!
Try things that challenge you. Never be complacent!!!
We all fail at sometime!! That’s what teaches us the most.
Just get up and try again next week, next month! There is always room for progression!
Peace out ๐๐ผ
